Our Activity
Our group decided to run a pub quiz to raise awareness and money for the sharks trust.
We originally decided to organise the open evening at the Marine School, however upon discussion we decided that it was too much to take on, and we’d be much more suited to running a charity quiz event.
The group decided that we would run the pub quiz in the bar at the local sailing club, I wasn’t present for this decision, but it was a good choice of venue. The quiz was to be £2 person, which I thought maybe expensive but no one complained and we raised a decent amount of money for the Sharks Trust. I would have liked to have played a bigger part in the organisation of our event. In some ways this is my own fault, as I didn’t attend all of the group meetings. Firstly because I was ill then also because I was moving house. I did however repeatedly ask if anything needs to be done, but Anthony and Ed had sorted out everything before I could even assist. I wasn’t really given any responsibility during the task which lead to me doing not an awful lot.
Anthony was responsible for getting the donations for the quiz prizes together and did a great job of going to local businesses and getting these …show more content…
Most of the academic and life skills I have acquired over the years that I have been out of formal education come from my own personal research and actively challenging myself each day to learn something new, I undertook reading scientific journals and actively following the news and current affairs in my own spare time.
