If you’re suffering from acne you have probably tried countless topical pharmaceutical products in the past that have promised to rid you of or at least quell the symptoms of this condition. Unfortunately many of these products carry with them detrimental side-effects that can make your symptoms worse in the long run. The most prescribed topical product is known as benzoyl peroxide, which works primarily as a peeling agent, it increases the rate at which your skin sheds and also contains antibacterial properties to fight the microbes responsible for acne formation. While benzoyl peroxide does its job and does its job well in some cases, many individuals experience side-effects sometimes worse than the acne condition itself, such as itching, burning, extreme dry skin, redness and sometimes swelling.
