I learned a lot from this OIR that will affect my future teaching career hopefully in a better approach. I learned that some children develop slower than others and some develop quicker. All children achieve milestones at different times in their lives. Seeing that some children need a little extra help (guidance in independence and taking responsibility) and some children don’t, show that when I’m a teacher, I’m going to have to accommodate to these children’s needs as much as possible. I also learned that some children need more time than others to develop. After completing this assignment, I’ve learned several ways to adapt to the children and help them succeed to the best of their abilities by helping them take responsibility and become more independent. I plan to use this information to shape my interactions with children when I become a teacher. I will definitely be taking into consideration of the children who are not fully developed yet and need more help interacting with others and doing things on their own. Along with this, encouraging conversation between students can help them develop and see the role of language being used. All though my teacher works with the children in groups, I would like to see and learn more ways to work with a student on developing their cognitive skills and language skills within a group. After observing J during work and play, I believe that she is typically developed in most aspects. I’m wondering how we know this for sure though. I’m still wondering how one diagnoses a child so young with cognitive disabilities or language disabilities. J seems to have greater cognitive skills and language skills from what I can see, but we can never be too sure about
