The two sides of the never ending battle between the pros and cons of bottled water and tap water takes a new victim with every statistic, but the fact of the matter is tap water takes the metaphorical cake in every instance. Not only does the regulation of tap water help the economy by making state sponsored jobs, and costing considerably less, but tap water is also better for the environment with no plastic bottles rotting away in landfills. The constant regulation of tap water also makes it better for your body. In all ways tap water is superior. “On average, 86% of plastic bottles end up in landfills” (Ellsbury). Millions of water bottles turn up in landfills and dumps. It takes years for the bottles to decompose; once the landfill is full extra land will need to be developed and cleared to …show more content…
Inflation makes the value of the dollar go down. Items costing one dollar will cost $1.02 if there is a 2% inflation rate annually. Inflation affects everyone in different walks of life differently. If the inflation is too high and jacks prices up too much, of course it is not a great thing, but, inflation can stimulate the economy because greater amounts of money is in circulation. When people are given jobs, like the jobs created by water pipes, it pushes money out into the economy which has to be spent due to the raised prices. “Both kinds of water are tested regularly for bacteria and most synthetic organic chemicals, but city tap is typically assessed much more frequently.” (postman) What? Hold up. Read that again. So, tap water is cleaner than bottled water? The fact that tap water is tested more means that it is cleaner. Cleaner water equals a cleaner body. All in all tap water is just better; it is better for your body, better for the environment, and better for the economy. It pushes jobs, and money. It helps our planet stay healthy, and helps us stay

The article “Goodbye, Bottled Water?”, by Gail Hennessey, was written to convince bottled water users to stop purchasing bottled water due to environmental impacts. To begin with, Hennessey pointed out such serious toxic pollution cause by throwaway plastic bottles. According to San Bernardino’s mayor, “ More than 1 billion plastic bottles end up in California's landfills each year.” Then, the plastic bottles will sit there for 1000 years to biodegrade and leaving toxic pollution. Likewise, Hennessey states that the oil needed for producing plastic bottles affect the environment as well.…

Isabel Johnson’s article “Bottled Water, Go Away” brings up a different perspective to an ongoing debate over the impacts of plastic water bottles on the world. She presents both the pros and cons of bottled water. Her reasons, however, do not provide a strong argument since she does not clearly support a single claim. Nonetheless, the reasoning behind her logic is supported using information obtained from research. Her credibility is built, but at the same time lost, from using these resources because they are not suitable to cite.…

The documentary “Tapped” sheds some light on the dangers of bottled water. One of my favorite points the documentary talks about is how the thousands and thousands of plastic water bottles are affecting us and our world. Yes, while bottled water may be convenient for us humans who are always going and going, it's not very convenient for the rest of the world. Our environment was not grown with plastic. Plastic is not nature based, therefore it is not organic, meaning it can’t decompose, or give anything to the environment except pollution, death, and trash.…

People want to know which water is healthier, is it bottled water or tap water? Researchers have tried to prove one or the other is healthier. Even though bottled water is considered healthy that is false. Bottled water goes through so many processes just to be purified and made healthy. While bottled water is accessible, portable and 100% recyclable, it harms our environment and leaks toxins into our groundwater. In my honest opinion, tap water should be a more favored choice because it can be purified and put into non plastic bottles. In various parts of the passage “Goodbye, Bottled Water?” it explains how plastic water bottles take years to biodegrade, leaking toxic additives into the ground water.…

My initial thought was that bottled water is an overall better choice than tap water, but after reading all three articles, Tap water doesn't seem as bad as an option I initially thought it was. For one thing, tap water is significantly cheaper than bottled water (up to 1000 times more cheaper). Another obvious reason people seem to forget about is that the bottled water affects the health of our planet. Document 3 states “Bottled water is an increasingly growing business, and with that comes a whole lot of environmental impact that can be avoided by a turn of the faucet, says Jenny Powers of the NRDC. While we struggle to cut down on our consumption of fossil fuels, bottled water increases them”.…

My project is how recycled water, tap water, and distilled water affect plant growth. I chose this project because if anyone would like to grow plants they would want to know which water makes their plants grow the biggest and tallest. The reason I chose this project is because I would like to learn more about plant growth and how different types of water would affect it because then I could grow multiple types of plants and get bigger plants then ones watered with tap or distilled water. My hypothesis is that the recycled water will make the plants grow more. I believe this because recycled water has multiple more nutrients then the other two waters.…

There is no problem with drinking tap water in NJ but drinking water in a bottle is still better. “If your water comes from a public source (rather than a well), you should get a water-quality or consumer-confidence report from the water company once a year.” This shows that bottled water, as long as it comes from a public source, is accepted by almost everyone and is good quality water. Tap has certain chemicals to keep clean but these chemicals are still safe to consume. Obviously, like everything else, everything has a price but bottled water doesn’t have a big one.…
