Tampa Museum Of Art Analysis

I visited the Tampa museum of art and discovered some very interesting and beautiful works of art. My favorite painting I came across was Lupins and Foxgloves on Indian Creek, Painted by Carolyn Brady in 1988. It was placed on the museum as a gift from the Bank of Tampa, in memory of Judith R Blanchard. It’s a watercolor painting on just plain paper. Depicting both land and sea shows how artists perceive and portray the natural world around them. From romantic depictions of the American wilderness to colorful, geometric renderings of the French countryside, I believe this painting highlights key stylistic movements from the past 150 years. Including work by Abraham Walkowitz, Adolf Gottlieb, Elaine de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, and Sylvia Plimack …show more content…
In Brady’s painting the purple and pink are very soft and light colors, causing a very light feel in the painting as well. The green leaves surrounding the flower encompassing our eyes to follow that trail that leads up to the magnificent flowers where our eyes tend to stay. The faded trees in the back I also believe are just there to fill an empty gap that Brady would have had based on the setting of her painting. There doesn’t seem to really be a point behind the trees in the back except to draw your eyes away and fill up some space in the …show more content…
Carolyn Brady’s paintings weren’t huge but showed the real and true meanings behind the flowers she painted. She wanted to show the real life meaning and wanted it to look as realistic as it could, which is why the colors popped so much. She wanted you to feel as if you were standing in a field of the flowers overlooking the water in the distance. She wanted it to be a very peaceful and relaxing setting. A picture you could look at and feel relaxed and refreshed after glancing at it. She was a truly great and inspirational artist. I believe her paintings described how she felt about a certain situation. All of her paintings show she had a passion for what she did. Carolyn Brady put a lot of effort into her work and it was clearly shown. She oved it so much it became her passion to use watercolors in her art work. Watercolors are a famously used technique and style of painting to show vibrant yet still beautifully dull colors that create a painting using all the techniques such as, atmospheric perspective, realism, complimentary colors and layering. All together I truly loved this work of art and think it’s a great piece at the Tampa Museum of

Color: The painting has a combination of complimentary colors that give the piece a warm look. For instance, the yellow and orange provides light to the composition and also add a visual depth to it because both colors reflect the scheme of a peaceful night. In addition, the blue in the sky beautifully portrays harmony throughout the painting, and the black in the background perfectly contrasts with the blue in the sky and the circled white brush strokes…

Charles Emile-August Carolus-Duran’s piece titled Portrait of an Artist in her Studio represents the action of a women painting. This piece was made in the late 19th century (c. 1880) and was considered one of Carolus-Duran’s great society portraits. The piece’s present location is the La Salle University Art Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and its original location was *****. This portrait is oil on canvas, and the “quick, loose brushwork” technique can be accredited to masters such as Diego Velasquez and Edouard Manet (placard.) Just as the painting suggests, the painting’s subject is an artist, many say Carolus-Duran’s wife or mistress, in her studio.…

Nearly the entire background of the painting is different values of green. Darker, muddy green colors at the bottom left corner and lighter refreshing values of green in the middle right surround the mother and child. The isolation in the painting created by mostly negative space emphasises the human connection. The two are surrounded by a natural, calm atmosphere where they can find peace. Green is a very natural, peaceful, safe color that evokes harmonious feelings and symbolizes growth and fresh energy.…

As the woman is falling there a shadow on the ground, the plants are brighter on the right part of it,but as the viewer’s eyes move to the left the view will notice how the plant is no longer as bright, as well for the train because Benton made his paintings light source on the right. Since it’s on the right the subjects that are facing the light source contain both highlight and shadow going from right to left which makes the painting look more real to the viewer.
