The Tale Of Two Sisters

ACT 1 SCENE
(LADY ROHAN, and MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS enter)
LADY ROHAN

I hope that Lady Grace was able to find you the appropriate dress for tonight’s event.

(speaking to LADY GRACE as they make their way over to the assortment of dinner clothing) LADY GRACE Of course I was able to find quite a few wonderful dresses the Queen should find pleasing for her special announcement. (Lady Grace places the last dress down on the bed) MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS: (stands near a chair by her bed and sits down to have a viewing of each dress) I would hope there would be a dress that is beautiful as well as distinctly impressive to let the French know that I am not just a bride for the King but will rule with him. LADY GRACE: (curtsies to the queen as she scowls at Lady Rohan) Your majesty I think there are a couple dresses here that would convey beauty and strength. LADY ROHAN: (moves outside of the queen’s range and sticks out her tongue at Lady Grace) We shall see won’t we? (addressing the queen with a curtsy) Your Majesty, may I show you the dresses? MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS: (reaches for a some treats to her left side on a table near her chair) I suppose so, I must pick something soon as the dinner is in a few hours. LADY GRACE: (moves to right side of queen and curtsies) Your Majesty, I was the one in charge of finding the perfect dress, wouldn’t it be more appropriate for me to show you the dresses? LADY ROHAN: (rolls her eyes and steps back) Enter chamber maid carrying clean bedding and room supplies. CHAMBER MAID: (To both Ladies ROHAN AND GRACE) What would you like me to do with the bedding? Come back to freshen the room or wait? LADY ROHAN: Stay. LADY GRACE: Come back later. CHAMBER MAID: I can not do both, ladies. MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS: (stands indignantly obviously annoyed at her two ladies) Really, is this how you two are going to be all night. One trying to out do the other and neither coming to the same suggestion, even directing the chamber maid oppositely. I don’t know but you two better start to get along or I will have one of you replaced even though you are sisters and here to help me. I find you both annoying since you fight, roll your eyes at each other and generally disagree. It is ridiculous. Now show me the dresses Lady Grace. (Lady Grace shows Mary

Great Job of John Erman’s Version of A Streetcar Named Desire John Erman had done a great job on filming the play, A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee William, into movie, which was released in 1984. The classical music, lighting, and the representation by the actors were all blended together perfectly to express the play—I even think it is more engaged than the play. From the beginning to the end, Erman shortened scenes that are relatively insignificant to allow the main plots to “shine”.…

In Woolf’s “What If Shakespeare Had Had a Sister?” I got that she was trying to point out the big differences of what it was like for men and women back then. We all know how intelligent Shakespeare was but Woolf was defending the side of woman by saying woman could’ve been just as successful as men if they had everything that men were able to receive such as the chance of going to school, going to certain places, acting, or being in the theatre. I can see where she is coming from because if you think about todays society, there is still a lot wrong with equal rights especially for women. Personally, I agree with the author because she does have a point.…

Every person has had a traumatic past or an unfortunate event that has affected them one way or another; all have a different way of coping, and for Tennessee Williams it was writing. One of his better known plays,“A Streetcar Named Desire”, is a play constructed of pieces of his past childhood. The play is constructed of symbolism, aggressive diction, and conflict to be as a stage for William’s broken, beaten down mind. Tennessee Williams was born in Columbus, Mississippi; he had two siblings and his mother and father- a full house. Though it may seem like he had a complete undamaged family, life wasn’t easy for him.…

I do not think Sister Aloysius’s actions would be different if she were the principal at a secular school because I honestly think that a secular school principal would demonstrate some of the same actions Sister Aloysius did. Principals base their actions on what they think needs to be done about a situation; however, some of those actions are not the best way to handle things. In a principal’s mind, their number one job is to protect the students in the school from harm, either in the school or outside of it because those dangerous situations affect not just their education, but also their whole life. Students and teachers might think that what the principal is doing is unfair and that the actions should not be allowed, but what they might…

Yes, I do believe that Hansberry’s stage drama has helped be comprehend what she wanted her audience to understand through the story of the Younger family. Hansberry wanted to tell her audience the truth about the black people in that time period and teach about their life. she wanted to teach the audience whet the black people did on a day to day basis. She wanted her audiences to understand that the African American race is just as complicated and similar as other races of people are. She wants the audiences that experience the play first hand and those that read about the play in the future to realize that each race and group of people is more similar then they original believe.…

“A Christmas Story”, the play directed by Susan Ferley and performed at December 2nd, 2015, was a well-performed play in my opinion. The story is about a boy named Ralphie Parker wanting a BB gun: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and "this thing which tells time" for his Christmas present. In the story, he does all he can to receive that gun but their parents reject his wish because they thought it was too dangerous for him. The writer, Jean Shepherd, wrote about a very boring outline of the story but made the story humorous and exciting for the audience. The performances in the “A Christmas Story” was very well done by the actors.…

The Sparrow On Friday, November 18, 2016, my wife and I saw the 7:30 showing of The Sparrow, a play written by Chris Matthews, Jake Minton, and Nathan Allen. The play is about a high school girl (Emily) returning to her former school after a tragic accident in the second grade, in which she was the only survivor, forced her to move and attend a different school. Eventually it is revealed that Emily has super powers when she saves the popular cheerleader (Jenny) from falling from the school’s rafters. Although this makes her loved by the students and teachers alike, a tryst with a popular male teacher (Mr. Christopher) fuels a jealous rage from Jenny, leading to Emily attacking Jenny with her powers. It is then revealed that Emily caused the…

As a person who has only attened two other plays in their life, people might call me “unqualified” to review a play; these people are wrong. My qualifications for play review come solely from an “excess” amount of musicals listened to, pirated videos, and animatics watched on youtube. Seeing Guys and Dolls live was a great experience as a whole, and I enjoyed myself throughly. Understandably there were a few things that I disagreed with, so I will nitpick and pretend that my qualifications alone make me justified to critique a play that no doubt took alot of effort, stress, and love to make.…

Play Analysis Essay # 2 One of the most important things in Death of a Salesman is the father and son relationship expressed in this play. It shows a constant struggle between the closest of family members. It will make you reflect on your relationship between your child or parent.…

Should gender stop someone from being who they want to be? During the early seventeenth century, many social barriers prevented people from being themselves, such as remaining the gender they were born with throughout their whole life. Any movement and straying from their gender, based on their biological sex, was not acceptable and was looked down upon. Societal structure and law made very clear that biological sex must be the same as sexual orientation. However, in the play Twelfth Night, or What You Will, Shakespeare creates Viola to manipulate gender ambiguities that allow her to express her true feelings and emotions to ultimately prove that gender is irrelevant in a relationship.…

Three Sisters, by Anton Chekhov, directed by Rick Lombardo is the 2nd required performance for this semester and could not have been better. The Kennesaw State University production of Three Sisters was phenomenal and the undergraduate students who performed portrayed the Russian characters very well. I am usually not too impressed when it comes to plays performed by students but this production has me wanting to go to every Kennesaw State production. The women who played the three sisters; Olga, Masha, and Irina had me believing I was in the Fox Theatre surrounded by an enormous audience. They made this production feel as though it were professional.…
