According to Science Buddies Staffs, “Take a Musical Step Back in Time: Make Your Own Phonograph From Everyday Items,” in the year 1877, Thomas Edison successfully built the phonograph. The phonograph, back then consisted of turning a cylinder wrapped with paraffin paper or tinfoil, a needle, and horn. The use of a phonograph was to first connect the stylus(needle) to the paper or tinfoil, then yell into the horn while spinning the diaphragm, this results in indentions in the paper, after that the diaphragm would be spun back to the original spot, then the stylus would be placed in the first indentation, after that the diaphragm would be spun, and this results in sound. This resulted in being able to hear the recorded message. The phonograph gave the ability to indulge in music. This invention has since shaped history. For the first time, people could communicate with the person giving the message, and not through another person or paper. This invention has since shaped history.
