Like Beethoven said, music is invented through our spirit. From the beginning of the first creation of instruments to present time, music has constantly evolved. An example of this is Dixie Land Jazz, which was created at the beginning of the 20th century. The “Tailgate Ramble”, performed at Preservation Hall, in New Orleans, was a group of Jazz musicians that played music through improve. Each time they played there was a new rhythm and a new meaning. The most interesting part about the “Tailgate Ramble” is that each musician added his own piece in music to create one song. Although it might sound like a catastrophe waiting to happen, the musicians did not play completely away from each other; instead, each musician listened and felt one another’s sound and made their own rhythm based on what they were hearing around them. Another example of new innovation was George Gershwin’s piece “Rhapsody in Blue”. Gershwin’s use of Jazz combined with the traditional concert was unlike anything else done before. In “Rhapsody in Blue” two different styles become paired together to form something unique. With this being said, new styles and melodies have been made over the years and each song has its own distinctive characteristic distinguishing itself from the rest. Every action, every memory, and every relationship builds a new note in life. It is more than just dots and scribbles on paper; it is a door to the soul. No matter what happens, people will always have the decision on what their next note will be. In his article “Can Music Save Your Life?” Mark Edmundson says, “Life’s pleasures are in creating things, even if the creations have a few cracks in them”(10). With this said, music will continue to evolve and grow. Some people might despise it and some might find it interesting, but one thing is for certain, people will never stop
