Taco Tuesday Reflection

Decent Essays
Last week on July 14, 2015 I went to Los Comales for “Taco Tuesday.” I had seen an ad displaying a sale for “Taco Tuesday,” the tacos were supposed to be $1.

When I ordered my food I requested 3 steak tacos. I expected my bill to come out to around three dollars and change. However, my bill actually came out to $7.49. I complained to the person taking my bill but they did not understand what I was trying to tell them.

I believe that if your restaurant has a sale displayed that it should be honored. I think that I am owed money back. Please feel free to contact me to return my money at your convenience.

Waffle Now is a restaurant that has, until now, chosen to pay their employees below minimum wage so that their servers can make up for what they do not revieve from the company in tips. The idea behind this is that the need for good tips from their costomers will create an incentive for employees doing well at their jobs. This is a plan that only works in theory, as there must always substanital tips from cusomers to fully make up for what the workers are not paid. Recently, the Waffle Now employees have found that the wages they recieve are simply not enough for them live on alone. Not only is this true, but they have also found that there is research on how this incentive-based tipping system is systematically broken, outside of Waffle Now and that other states have already begun to move away from tipping in its entirety.…

With the abolishment of tipping in the food industry, it would force a majority of restaurants to close their businesses. The Reason we are able to go to a local restaurant and eat a meal for a decent price is because of the restaurants budgeting. Food servers get paid less than any other employees in the work force of America. With the abolishment of tipping we would cause restaurants to have to increase the pay of the servers. That would mean that the restaurant would have to increase the prices of their meals and drinks to make up for the labor wage increase .…

Every time I walk into Texas Roadhouse my eyes wonder over to where the rolls and their special cinnamon butter waiting to be consumed by the customer. I hear country music playing in the background, and feel peanuts crumbling under my feet like leaves on a beautiful autumn day. Without looking at the menu, my mind is already preparing my stomach for the flavorful food that I am about to encounter. Texas Roadhouse gives the Newark population somewhere local to get a great steak while getting a significate value. From personal experience most of the other steakhouses will get very pricey for a family of five making it difficult to dine at their restaurant while living on a tight budget.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

Growing up in our time, in a middle class privileged family and attending a good school makes myself take for granted what some people truly go though. I have always enjoyed my history classes throughout high school because my teachers were so passionate about their subjects. After this course I had acquired a different level of education of American History that I have grown to appreciate. Prior to this class I had not been aware of several events in our history including the project of Freedom Summer which took place in 1964. In, "Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food," student of history and creator Jeffrey M. Pilcher contends that globalization has been inconvenient, and extended Mexican sustenance. Pilcher claims that the nearness of worldwide impact of America has taken away the true Mexican cooking from their nation. Pilcher encountered how Taco Bell had the distinctive varieties direct. He went to this well known fast-food chain to complexity it, to a nearby taco truck to see which one was really fast food. For me, the most elements adjust a restaurant it should be they pick up the fresh ingredients used in the food.
