I agree, that there is room for improvement when it comes to tackling health disparities and there are programs emerging that are trying to bridge the gap. According to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (2015) in efforts to tackle health disparities, the National Institute of Health (NIH) selected two research teams to conduct studies on how to improve health outcomes, related to hypertension, for populations most at risk for health disparities. These studies are different than ones previously done because they fully engage patients and clinicians in the design and conduct of the studies. Each study has a patient-centered approach so that the patients are able to be involved in determining ways to improve their health
