It wasn’t until the late 1930's and the early 1940's that all-wheel drive was used constantly by the military and by civilians. The first all-wheel drive system was built by the Cunningham Engineering Company of Boston, in 1900. The system was used on a steam wagon, which was driven by chains. The first dramatic change in all-wheel drive was in 1941, when Willy's Overland and Ford won the contract for the definitive general purpose vehicle, the jeep.…

The documentary felt pretty biased in a particular direction that makes it feel closed off to the people for whom its point of view would be most helpful. It felt like another of the many news sources that yell into echo chambers filled with people already inclined to lean towards the point of view presented. It was also a lot of information presented very quickly and with very little contextualization. For instance the portion where it was talking about the Energy Task Force, a sector in the United States Government that was set up post 9/11, was really quick and did not explain it’s point well.…

Chapter 4 Modelling of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator 4.1 Overview The permanent magnet synchronous generator is used in this thesis as wind turbine generator because of their high efficiency, low losses, smaller size, less maintenance, high reliability and the ability to operate without gearbox [33], [34]. The main aspect which distinguishes the Permanent Magnet Synchronous machine from other types of electrical machines is that the rotor magnetic flux is generated by permanent magnets, instead of being supplied by other external power sources as in DC machines and synchronous machines.
