Its first ever laser machine was manufactured in 1981 which was made with a laser purchased in the USA and was called the TRUMATIC 180 L. TRUMPF had success with this product and decided to make their own CO2 laser machine. This led to the development and manufacture of the TRUMPF LASER TLF 1000. It had a 1kW of beam power and was the first machine to include a compact laser resonator with RF excitation. This combination of the accuracy of laser cutting along with the existing numerical control capability of its machine-tools, TRUMPF revolutionized the sheet metal fabrication industry.
TRUMPF continued to focus on its sheet metal fabrication machines through the 1990’s and 2000’s. It progressively improved and refined its techniques for cutting and punching machines.
