Its first ever laser machine was manufactured in 1981 which was made with a laser purchased in the USA and was called the TRUMATIC 180 L. TRUMPF had success with this product and decided to make their own CO2 laser machine. This led to the development and manufacture of the TRUMPF LASER TLF 1000. It had a 1kW of beam power and was the first machine to include a compact laser resonator with RF excitation. This combination of the accuracy of laser cutting along with the existing numerical control capability of its machine-tools, TRUMPF revolutionized the sheet metal fabrication industry.

TRUMPF continued to focus on its sheet metal fabrication machines through the 1990’s and 2000’s. It progressively improved and refined its techniques for cutting and punching machines. At the same time TRUMPF forayed into the bending and tube machining segment. Simultaneously, TRUMPF advanced its laser machines as well. These are all combined under the umbrella of the management holding company - TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG. A global network of production, sales and service companies supports the business activities of various business divisions. Machine-Tools:
TRUMPF offers an entire spectrum of machine-tools ranging from punching, bending, laser cutting and welding. Its customers are present in almost every industry from furniture to household appliances to automobiles.

Power-Tools:
TRUMPF offers power-tools that are ergonomic and make cutting or joining sheet-metal more productive and safe. These are used in construction, ventilation and air-conditioning industry etc.

Laser Technology:
TRUMPFS laser machines are offered as high cost and high quality solutions. These are capable of mass production in an energy and cost efficient manner. The laser division also works with customers to provide expertise in application and offer system solutions.
