Having worked with teams in the past, often in drama production and yearbook, I have come across varying levels of talent and soft skills. What I 've learned from all the time spent, is that these two qualifications rarely come hand in hand. I 've had team members dedicated to getting the best product and work done, yet lacked innate skills to accomplish tasks completely by themselves. On the other hand, I 've worked with others who were far above me in technical and creative skills and yet would be frustratingly hard to communicate with and rely on to accomplish work in an orderly fashion. In one case, there was a team leader so frustrating that I was put in to replace the individual. His technical skills may have exceeded, but they knew that with me they could better communicate what they needed from me, and know I 'd work my best to accomplish such tasks. From my personal experience, I would say this is often what I am best at, and consider myself to be an expert at. Admittedly, I do know others that seem to be more intuitive then myself but what I find many others lack is the ability to quickly and effectively research problems. Times will come when there’s an issue that takes only a moment to mess around and figure out a solution, but often you can run into problems that seem entirely new or unknown to you. This is where knowing of frequently reliable online sources. be it specific user forums, PDF manuals, blogs, or sources for video tutorials, is far more realistic than a blind jump into a Google search. In addition, knowing which information to collect and related key phrases is a necessity to browsing and searching these sources, preventing your search from being so wide you can’t find a solution or so narrow you throw out similar situations by including too much low-priority data.
