In many stories smart authors use a symbol that means a significant piece to the story. Like in the story The Wizard of Oz they use red ruby slippers as a symbol. Symbols in stories help readers better get more emotions and feelings towards the story. In the story “ I Know What You Did Last Summer” they have three very significant symbols that help the readers understand how these will affect the future for the characters.
