Daughter of the King. Only one of these titles is what I pray defines my story: daughter of the King. Throughout the unfolding drama of the Bible, God continuously chooses individuals for specific occasions, for specific reasons, and to a specific end. This secret end, foreshadowed in daily instances of that future glory, is being worked for through characters from the time of Abraham, to David, to Christ incarnate, to Paul, and to Christians today. God has worked powerfully in the lives of Christians for millennia. As a Christian today, I walk forward in union with the full body of believers: past, present, and future. The only obstacle truly limiting the expanse of my future, is my own mistrust in the power of God to work in my life – just as compellingly as he always has. Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me: your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” This verse gives me great comfort and hope for the future, whatever career that holds: teacher, artist, or writer.
