The financial performance of MBS is not in a good shape at the time of 2011. The sales revenue peaked in 2007 and has been sliding since then. In 2011, the adjusted gross profit from MBS sales only takes up 1/8 of donations amount. Berger and Symons have been constantly optimizing their product structure and distribution channels, the problems like low-quality and high costs are still bothering MBS. Berger proved his ability when putting all his efforts into MBS, their revenue skyrocketed over five times in 2007, but that was the only year MBS’s gross profit higher than donations. They were also allocating resources into raising awareness, which has no actual income on the financial statement. Symons along with Berger should keep the mission statements so that the …show more content…
Since MBS is a for-profit company, it needs to sell high-quality goods and pursue higher profit for the shareholders. The problems with quality and supply indicate that MBS doesn’t have enough energy and experience to do quality control, optimizing product structure is the primary mission. The sales in 2011 were simplified to 75% jewelry and 25% other items, we believe it will be better for MBS to solely focus on silver jewelry. By stop spending resources on purchasing other items, MBS could open more jewelry centers and train the survivor more effectively and efficiently. The costs of products would be significantly lower because of economies of scale. A great strategy for MBS would be cooperating with known jewelry brands such as Tiffany, Pandora, Kay jewelry and so on. These big brands would like to improve their image of being socially responsible and MBS has a good chance to get this opportunity. In this way, MBS can get a lot more exposure to potential customers. Asking celebrities to wear their jewelry and post them on their social networking will be another good
