Sweden has a rich, old culture known for their music, land and exports. Although 5th largest country in Europe, there are many things about Sweden people don’t understand. The first to arrive to Sweden were reindeer hunters after the ice age and somewhere around 12,000-10,000 B.C.E. Those hunters would trade stone and other natural materials to the Roman Empire. Shortly after, providences were formed that came together and made the Gustav Vasa monarch. After many years of fighting, Sweden became its own country. As Sweden’s economy grew, more people moved there in hopes of a well paying job. These people also brought over their traditions that became Sweden’s cultural traits. The way Sweden was designed was mostly through urban planning. They made it that there are small shops on almost every street and the way they designed their roads prevents traffic accidents. Sweden has the world’s lowest rate of traffic deaths due to this planning. In 1965, the government passed a law to promote building thousands of new houses and as a result even lower income families have the highest housing standards in the world. Many people don’t know about it but Sweden was known for creating Ikea. “Originally founded by the Swede Ingvar Kamrad in 1943, IKEA now has a presence all over the world, where you can buy modern but affordable furniture, take it home and have fun assembling it yourself”(“Facts About Sweden” 4). Also known for their music, Sweden is the 3rd biggest exporter in the world, of making music. “Its most famous musical export is ABBA, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their song Waterloo”(“Facts About Sweden” 3).
