There is an abundance of careers in the medical field, but I have an interest in surgical technology. I am intrigued by the steps and instruments required to perform a specific surgery and the body structure of humans. My interest sparked more when my friend who is a surgical technician explained to me how it is a rewarding career because she gets to improve her patients’ lives every day and experience new things. This is the perfect career path for me because I am passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. On March 12th I will be a first-time student attending Concorde Career College in Miramar.

Health professionals especially surgical technologist must be organized, team orientated and quick-witted. I am naturally an organized and a clean individual. I worked in retail as a cashier. There, I worked as a team in order to achieve a goal. While I was on the register, I would anticipate my customer’s needs by getting extra bags and boxes ahead of time for customers who had numerous items in their cart. In the mornings, I always made sure the store was secure and clean before customers entered the store. Last year during the summer, I provided care for children ages, three and seven. On many occasions, I had to plan a daily routine for the children to follow, arrange their clothes and toys a specific way. My senior year in High School I volunteered at an Abandon Pet Rescue Shelter. During the time I was there, I took care of abandon and abused animals. The staff was very grateful because I was attentive, respectful and showed compassion towards the staff and
