The author used UPS as a great example to explain insourcing. He stated that, “the company’s employees perform services beyond their initial tasks for another company” (p.169). Although this definition is very straightforward and widely accepted, it needs to be accepted and understood by the readers. Insourcing is a process that takes place when a company is usually experiencing failed attempts by their outsourcing company. Many things could go wrong when dealing with an outsourcing company such as: failure to communicate correct ideas, too costly, pressure to deliver superior work, etc. When these failures take place, companies make the changes they need to to get this work done in-house. Economic globalization has to do with trading products and services internationally. For example many most of the clothing and shoes I own are made internationally from places like China and Vietnam. Often people don’t realize that the items they own are made from all over the world. In addition, it is important to pay attention to technological globalization as well. Because of technological globalization it is easy for us to contact people all over the world. You also have to realize that technology was only available to the rich at one point in time, but it is now available to anyone who could afford it. Lastly, globalization affects our country politically. Since the United States is very up to date with technology and economic advancements, we also try to keep up with other countries politically.
