Temüjin lives the life as the son of nobility until his father is poisoned by rival tribe leaders. The tribe he belonged to denied Temüjin his right to rule because of his young age, just being shy of twelve years. The tribe exiles him, his mother, and his brothers. Conquerors mush be able to protect their people from threats within their lands as well as outside hazards. An example of this is when the Great Wall of China was built to protect China from the northern threat of invasions. Not only was it used to defend China but it acted as a way to quickly warn if invaders were attacking by solders lighting beacons to warn other garrison on the wall that they were being attack. The soldiers would light their beacon if they saw the one before theirs lit so it was like a trail of fire to warn the people of China if invaders were attacking. The next example is of why conquerors need to protect from inside as well as outside their domain. September 11, 2001 will forever been a day of sorrow as the World Trade Center collapse when terrorist hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York. As well as into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. After that the United States fortified and tightened security any and all way into the country. As a result of this, countless attempted attacks have been repelled and neutralized from this effort to protect the country’s citizens from these types of threats. The last example of this is Constantinople in the early 1500’s. Constantinople was under constant threat of invaders by land and sea, so in order to protect what they could, the city built walls and even built walls inside the city so that the invaders could …show more content…
Conquerors need to be able to make sure that people who are living in their lands can coexist with them and one another. To elaborate, Genghis Khan united the tribes of Mongolia by either making alliances with tribes that he could, or by destroying opposing tribes. Another example of this is Alexander the Greats war campaigns, because he conquered much of the ancient world, many different cultures were integrated together as a result. He managed to mix cultures from Italy, Greece, Persia, and Egypt. Doing this in thirteen short years however is no simple feat. The last example of this is the United States during Manifest Destiny was being enforced rapidly. The United States wanted to expand their country until they controlled all the land from the Atlantic Ocean, to the Pacific. The Native tribes were not keen on having their land taken away so the States decided that it would be faster to just kick them out with force. Many of the tribes were split up and integrated into American society. To close, a conqueror must be able to make people unite in any way

Millenniums ago, independent states began to grow, conquering each other to form empires. These empires rise and fall; while they do not physically remain on a map, their influences remain, as conquerors assimilate these influences into their own culture.
