The HR department has a huge undertaking when it comes to filling vacant positions. The main step in hiring an ideal candidate is to review previous employment history this will allow the HR specialist to determine if they are seeking long term employment. A person who has numerous jobs during a short time is likely not going to stay at a company for a long time. An article in AACN Bold Voices, 2014 states as many nurses prepare for retirement the United States will need over a million nurses by the year 2022. The demand for a million nurses in five years shows how serious the nurse shortage is; therefore, it’s imperative that doing proper screening such as resume review, interview and reference check to weed out those who are not suitable
