Foundation Before Density In Scott McCloud’s graphic essay, “Show & Tell”, McCloud uses an appreciable combination of words and images interchangeably to convey clear and comprehensible thoughts, He establishes better, more understood, literature by depicting images directly alongside pieces of text. Evidently, pictures are an associative mechanism that enables newcomer and experienced readers to make visual connections to text they normally would not conclude to by only analyzing and interpreting words (McCloud). Moreover, aside from images allowing readers to make connections, illustrations are particularly crucial components in literary works because they can convey coherent messages all on their own. In all, visual depictions in literature…

McCandless’s decision to discard his identity and past life without a backward look was something that is understandable yet shouldn’t have happened. As stated in the article, his sister believed that his reason for leaving “in that extreme way, to go without telling anyone where he was…” was due to “a physically abusive, chaotic childhood that both siblings were forced to conceal.” This allows people to comprehend why he left under such drastic terms. However, he should not have left without telling anyone where he was going or how long he would be away. Having a rough childhood might not have been his main purpose for leaving, but it sheds light on why he didn’t inform anyone of his leaving.…

I am convinced that one of the main reasons that you've made such good progress with LAP and taking a cane again, is that you got your backside clattered both regularly and properly by your uncle. In a similar way to the lads at school being disappointed not to see stripes across your buttocks when you'd been caned, I am always surprised that the welts from my best efforts have almost faded away before I've even left for the evening! Well Mark, if you want to make a longer lasting impression, you will simply have to lay on harder. A real hard man would expect a lad to wear the stripes he has given him for more than just a few short hours.…

Several years ago I recall hearing Steve Harvey, yes that Steve Harvey, the comedian, television, and radio show host say “the best lessons are the ones that are bought.” I have always interpreted this comment to mean the most memorable lessons are frequently the product of the distress, torment, and heartache we experiences as a result of decisions we have made or the unanticipated and uncontrollable challenges of life. The suffering we experience as we grapple with the consequences of our actions, decisions, or the difficulties of unexpected change make us acutely aware of the lessons we are required to learn and changes we are compelled to make to avoid continued or repeated anguish. Therefore, as I have matured personally and professionally…

In the novel “The 4 –Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferris, the author illustrates how he managed to work four hours a week even though it is literally impossible to work those hours in order to make a decent living. As I read this, I got concerned about what the author said because working four hours a week cannot be obtained unless a person was born from a rich family or the person went to a rich school. “The 4-Hour Workweek” displays many concepts that the author can relate to microeconomics. For example, Ferris talks about the risks and steps to become a successful entrepreneur, and he also mentions the opportunity cost in his entire book by telling the reader what he need to sacrifice. Technology gave Ferris the ability to live his own life because technology is able to make his life easier and it gives him more opportunities to work in any job he wishes.…
