Helen felt as if she was going to perish just as her sister had. Helen turned to Sherlock and Dr.Watson for assistance. She explained to them everything that had happened. Helen informed them about how Dr. Roylott had moved her into Julia’s room. That was when she heard the low whistle in the middle of the night. She told them about how her stepfather was not liked by the community. She told the about how he was abusive. In India someone had robbed his home. He had suspected it was the butler and murdered the butler. He did not care what society thought of him. This is a man versus society conflict (Dr.Roylott versus Society). Sherlock told Dr. Watson to bring his pistol for protection. Sherlock brought a cane to protect him. Sherlock told Dr. Watson to stay quiet. They sat in silence for a long time. At around 3 a.m., Sherlock heard something hissing. He begun to violently swing his cane around. A little while after Sherlock had begun to swing his cane Sherlock and Dr. Roylott her a low whistle. Them they heard a heart wrenching scream. They discovered Dr.Roylott dead in his room. They saw that the snake was around his head. They identified the snake as a swamp adder. An extremely poisonous snake. Society’s problem with Dr. Roylott was resolved. Dr. Roylott is now dead, so society does not have to worry about him. The conflict between Sherlock and Dr. Roylott was resolved because Dr. Roylott is dead. The conflict between Sherlock and himself was solved too because Sherlock figured out who had killed Julia. Helen was relieved because she no longer had to fear for her life. Sherlock and Dr. Watson were relieved too, because they had assisted Helen by finding her sister’s killer. Dr. Roylott had died, his own venomous snake had bitten and killed him.
