In the dramatic, but sadly realistic book Wintergirls, Laurie Halse Anderson tells the story of Lia, an anorexic teenager, after her closest friend Cassie mysteriously dies in a motel room. This engrossing book is suspenseful and breath-taking as Lia and her family take on many challenges and obstacles. More specifically, Wintergirls deals with real world problems such as children actually not eating and cutting themselves because they believe it cures their pain when they don’t even feel safe in their own bodies. This story of the challenges and responses in young teeenagers provides a frequently disturbing but important look into these real-life challenges that kids may go through. I found this story to be extremely sad and a bit disturbing,…

Synopsis Fahrenheit 451 is about a dystopian world, which means a future where things that are good now are either destroyed or turned into something worrying. The government is worried that people will revolt if they read books because they think they don’t have the best life that they could. It’s a story about a future where books are banned because people don’t have a long enough attention span to read them. Since they don’t have any books, people aren’t creative and everyone is the same and nothing really changes. And when the rare occasion does come up when there is a person who actually thinks for themselves, they “accidentally” die or disappear, like Montag’s neighbor, Clarisse.…

In this story many of the children on Venus are jealous of Margot’s opportunities and previous life on earth. When children are jealous, they turn against Margot. One example is when she is reading the poem, instead of listening to Margot the students shut her down without even listening. Just because students are jealous it does not mean that they can bully Margot. While this is important theme it is easily seen that if it weren’t for Margot not thinking about what she said or did that this wouldn’t have happened, so overall the important point is that it is needed for everyone to take a minute an think about the results in the end from what they…
