Last year was my first year at CU-Boulder. When I was living in the dorms, I witnessed a physical assault that was due to a young man being intoxicated and on drugs, which were both confirmed after the incident. He was violent and clearly intoxicated. Campus security and the police were called immediately after witnessing the several physical assaults of my friends. This young man had to go to court and was instantly expelled from Boulder. Not only did his poor decisions completely dismantle his own life, but the other individuals involved sought counseling and additional help to cope with their grief from the event. Therefore, this one incident alone solidifies the need for change at school and other universities. Across America, millions of people have tried to end sexual and physical assault and we need to strive to bring change and build a grassroot movement to help address this issue. The grassroot movement can help end the horrors of assault with the power of social change and people coming together. Ella Baker believed that people learn from their mistakes and become stronger people as life continues. While I can only hope that the aggressor in this incident has learned from his mistakes and grown as a person, I have personally witnessed my friends become stronger women with deeper
