The Lilliputians are very small people compared to Gulliver, for Gulliver is an absolute giant to them. When they first find them he gets tied up out of fear. Later on, they go on to accept Gulliver and even the emperor entertains Gulliver with great acts. Gulliver respects their strange and weird customs. The Lilliputians think that they have the upper hand since they have Gulliver tied up but, Gulliver knows he could totally break out of the ropes whenever he wanted. For his freedom, at one point the Lilliputians ask him to sign a paper. In reality, if Gulliver wanted too, he could completely destroy the whole town of people. This shows true power in Gulliver, he could do whatever he wanted right now for with size comes power in this world. When Lilliput is about to go to war, he feels not intervening at all. It does not feel right to him to interfere. Still, he offers his services to the emperor. He defends the country with his gigantic size. Again, Gulliver is showing power and dominance here. Instead of being a giant, he is the small person. Here everyone is a giant to Gulliver. Eventually, he is captured by a farmer and the farmer uses him for profit. This is exactly what the Gulliver did to the small farm animals. He had to do tricks and other things. Catching some fame, this attracted the King and Queen of the Giants. Gulliver has no power in the situation that he is in. He is moved around and was sold to the Queen for 1000 gold pieces. The queen is impressed by intelligence. He later discussed politics with the King. He told him what was going on in Europe and the King just started to laugh because of the little squabbles the countries had. First Gulliver was offended until he too thought that the politics were ridiculous. This one of the first changes that we see Gulliver go through, he is starting to see things differently in Europe and stupid they seem from far away. Eventually, the ladies of the court get their hands on Gulliver and use him as a plaything. He is absolutely disgusted at the up look to close up of the human bodies that he sees. He could see all the imperfections and ugliness on the women. This may hint at another change is view and personality.This also shows the lack of power that he has in this situation.
