Summary Of Cleaning At C-Diff Room

Decent Essays
Furthermore, working at Falmouth Hospital all c-diff rooms are sanitized with bleach. Being professionally skilled in cleaning precaution rooms, first, I wear gloves and a gown prior to entering a contact room. Cleaning with bleach is the way to kill c-diff spores. Also, I clean all areas of the room wiping down vertical surfaces, entire bathroom, entire bed and all other touchable surfaces, specifically cleaning the walls. Using a mop soaked in bleach I wipe the walls down, as if I was painting the walls. In addition, replacing curtains as c-diff spores linger in the air and into the curtain. Doing this type of cleaning is necessary. Granted, as the new patient admitted into the room, a completely sanitized room will stop the spread

This movie was a very fascinating one, can’t believe this is my first time watching it. The movie “The Cleaner” is about an ex-cop who makes his living by cleaning up crime scenes. Everything seems to be going well when one day he gets a job to clean up a gruesome homicide and figures out he is being set up. The crime scene, where he cleaned up never got reported to the police and unknowingly acted as an accessory to cover it up. Which automatically makes him the prime suspect of the case.…

Introduction: The world of antiseptics and disinfectants is ever changing. There are many different options out there and people have to decide what is the best option for them. For the experiment we performed in class, we had a variety of different options to use to see what the results would be from these. The range of items used were from and everyday household product of Lysol to Iodine which can be used in the operating room to prep the patient for the type of surgery they are having done. The purpose of this experiment was to show how effective products such as Lysol and Hibiclens can be against different bacteria.…

Hand Hygiene is considered “the most important measure for preventing the spread of pathogens in health- care settings” because it reduces the spread of pathogenic organisms to patients and health- care workers. Studies in the mid 1800s showed that hospital acquired nosocomial infections and diseases were spread by the hands of healthcare workers. In the 1980s, the first national guidelines for hand washing were published, and many other guidelines followed. The US public health service released a training video in 1961 that demonstrated recommended hand washing techniques for healthcare workers. The video recommended washing hands with soap and water for one to two minutes before and after coming in contact with a patient.…

Katelyn Baker 09-27-2014 Monday-Thursday 7:30-9:30 MRSA: Lori Popp’s Story I had the chance to listen to guest speaker Lori Popp talk about what happened to her after going through a bariatric operation and the complications that came with it. Her story really opened my eyes to what is happening in the world and health care settings. She taught me to be cautious because not every health care worker takes the proper precautions when working with their patients. This is how she acquired MRSA, because her surgeon did not follow proper protocol. Lori endured multiple antibiotic treatments, but more than anything she had to endure a terribly great number of surgeries; currently somewhere near 60 surgeries, to help control her MRSA infection because…

During my clinical rotation at Palmetto Richland on the Acute Care for the Elderly unit there were several patients on contact precautions due primarily to Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or high counts of gram-positive Escherichia coli bacterium (E. coli) in the urine and blood. A good example of best practice that I witnessed was the proper display and implementation of contact precautions around patients with multidrug-resistant organisms and bacteria (MDROs). If a patient is placed on contact precautions on this ACE unit floor, a large blue hanging bag, called an isolation precaution bag, is hung outside their room containing gloves and gowns. The nurse is to put on the glove and gown before entering the room and making contact with the patient.…

Then, there was an occupational health physician, risk management personnel, quality assurance personnel as well as representatives from other major departments such as pharmacy, central sterilization, surgery, and environmental services. This multidisciplinary committee meets monthly to report to the hospital administrator and is responsible for supervising program policies implementation and propose corrective actions. Furthermore, it sets up standards for patient care, analyzes and evaluates infection control (IC) reports, and determines the area of interventions. However, each member of the committee has a particular role.…

I feel that this is an experience that every student in healthcare should go through. One of the most important observations that I made concerns the various procedures of preventing infections in the operating room. The prevention majorly focuses on the patient, especially when considered the patient has open sounds during the operating process. At times, the practitioners tend to forget the importance of cleaning their hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based cleaners when interacting with the environment (Scott, Earl, Leaper, Massey, Mewburn, Williams, 1999). Notably, the assumption that the practitioner does not need to clean hands simply because they have gloves is misplaced, and it is often overlooked (Weber, Anderson, &Rutala, 2013; Karki& Cheng, 201)).…
