Summary Of Chouinard's Observation

Decent Essays
While reading through the chart, I made three different observations. One of the first observations was seeing that the author Chouinard says that women experience more violence in intimate partners than men and this could be because men have a behavior of always attempting to control the situation with hitting their partner even though they might be wrong. Second observation was seeing that Japan took the stance of not making a move against human trafficking after more than 20 years. It sad seeing how some countries failed to protect their people. Although I believe that the two-dimensional chart is very helpful in categorizing our politics, I wonder why the chart is not three-dimensional. Victor states that the chart categorizes voters by their level of economic and social ideologies, and the social ideology is based off of support, or lack of support for “racial minorities”. I think that a three-dimensional chart would serve a better purpose. The third factor in the proposed three-dimensional quadrant would be a person’s level of support for women’s rights. Republican leaders in Congress have expressed their lack of support for Planned Parenthood, and some governors, such as John Kasich, have even defunded Planned Parenthood for their states.…

When it comes to Global warming, being a vegetarian should be turned to as a first resort rather than going more toward the Prius, a car that has been made to cut vehicle emissions in half in an attempt to fight against global warming. Kathy Freston’s article “Vegetarian is the new Prius” caught my eye immediately when choosing an essay for the very fact that, I want Toyota Prius, and also because I’ve tried going vegetarian. Although I see nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, the lifestyle just didn’t work for me. I do to a certain extent agree with her argument because ever since I took ecology in high school, the environment has been very important to me, and I do what I can to help preserve it. Freston wrote that President Herbert Hoover promised a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage”.…

We watched the short film from Ted Talk, which former President Carter Discussed that women being mistreated is the number one Human Right being abused. Carter's belief is true to me, I don’t see why men are more superior than women; growing up in a household with 4 sisters has influenced me that men and women are created equally. The thought of some men disempowering women to feel less superior cause me to feel shock and ashamed of being a male. So a part of Lead Program for the Teachers College brought me more awareness of diverse cultures and environments. With that being said, I look forward to seeing the difference of a culture background and react to it positively.…
