A lot of changes to the game appeared in the 1970s and 1980s including the playoff format being revised, each player had their name on the back of their jerseys, many new rules favoring the offense, the kickers were neutralized, there is now a regular season overtime, penalties increases for hits to the head, neck, and face, ref used instant replay, and the playoffs and the schedule was expanded. Also, the NFL expanded into twenty-eight teams with the Buccaneers and the Seahawks being added. Beginning in 1970, the team who won the super bowl was given the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after the legendary Green Bay coach following his death earlier that same year. During the years of football during 1970-1989, many star players emerged which led to lots of attention from fans and the media.…

The reality of OJ Simpson’s Trial Present to Mr. Hyatt Presented by Aiyana Barnes O.J. Simpson was convicted of murdering his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. There are three crucial factors with the evidence against him. First, the L.A.P.D. has been proven corrupt and racially biased. Second, the evidence, including blood samples, and the glove from the scene of the crime. Third, the juries from during the trial were all mainly African American, so they began to have a race issue.…
We are disappointed by Lorin Bradbury’s explanation of why women stay in domestic violence relationships. A more important question is “Why do batterers hit and attempt to control a person whom their cultural norms tell them to love and cherish?” This would have been an opportunity for the religious leader, Pastor Bradbury, to apologize for the countless Christian pastors over the decades who have counseled women to stay with abusive partners. It would have been the opportunity for the psychologist, Dr. Bradbury, to acknowledge the complex situation a person faces when they love and need someone who becomes dysfunctional and abusive when they drink. It would have been an opportunity for the human being, Lorin Bradbury, to show more insight…
Clifford claims that it is wrong in every case to believe without sufficient evidence. It is claimed that O.J. Simpson murdered his wife Nicole and Ron Goldman. O.J. Simpson was found not guilty of murder after a criminal trial by a Jury of 12 people. In our society we accept the court system which was set up by our constitution and the outcomes of the criminal trials that come from our court systems. The level of proof for a conviction in our criminal court system is “beyond a reasonable doubt” which is the highest standard of proof.…
Many women are trapped in abusive relationships. Leslie Morgan Steiner, the author of Crazy Love, calls it “a physical and psychological trap disguised as love.” In her Ted Talk, she points out questions that most people don’t comprehend and always ask: “Why does she stay [in abusive relationships]? Why doesn’t she just leave ?” However, most people do not realize the reality of this problem is much more complicated.…
The Juice is on the Loose The notorious OJ Simpson murder trial: Two found dead, a blood-stained glove, the dream team of attorneys, a catchy jingle, and a famous fugitive. With the “mountain of evidence” that piled up, many were sure that Orenthal was going straight to the slammer. However, other factors got in the way, and it seems that the pile of evidence crumbled to dust.…
Why would a successful football star throw his life away? OJ Simpson, who previously and still continually accused of murdering Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, was an American Football Star Player, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1968. Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were both murdered outside of Nicole’s condo, and many believe it was OJ, but was it really? In the controversial court case of OJ Simpson, the verdict correctly appointed him innocent and acquitted him of the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman because his arthritis would have made it very difficult to commit murder, evidence proved him innocent, and his son had issues with knifes and continues to experience this. OJ Simpson, known to have arthritis and many other sports injuries,…
Summary Wally Lamb’s book Couldn’t Keep it to Myself is a book that tells the stories of 11 different women who were (are) incarcerated in the York correctional institution. These women who’s stories were told, were women who had committed all sorts of crimes, from embezzlement to homicide in the first degree. Their stories include stories of their lives before prison, how the got to prison, and their lives in prison. There were common factors in some of the stories of the women who ended up incarcerated. One factor that spoke out to me was that in most of their lives, they had a man harm them in some way or neglect them.…
After reading "violence in intimate relationships: a feminist perspective" there are some harsh realities that some women do not want to face when they are or may be in a abusive relationship. Women face being labeled as a "battered woman" someone who has lost their morals or values to even stay with a male who is abusive towards them. I believe it is hard for women to leave a abusive relationship because they are scared especially if the abuse has been going on for years. I've seen a lot of movies based on women being abused by their significant other and from those movies i got that the woman has to at some point build this determination to leave that abusive relationship. Furthermore the woman has to feel like she has someone to turn to…
Their crime was a way out of their abusive relationship. Their pathways to crime all relate around domestic violence. Some women, Dyer and Marchetti, have a history of experiencing childhood victimization, which is a perdomaint factor in a pathway to crime (Pollock, 2014, p. ). However, for majority, if not all, of their causes for offtending relates back to domestic violence. One article states that the culmination of ongoing violence in the relationship is usually the result of an inmate partner murder (CITE).…
The ‘trial of the century’ changed many Americans’ views on race. While race is the most notable impact and influence associated with the Simpson trial, the highly popularized case brought more transformations than creating a major race controversy. The trials multi-faceted ideas and themes, including media coverage, criminology, views on justice, and domestic abuse, impacted American culture as well. The O.J. Simpson trial had a long-term impact that went further than racial tensions to ultimately change the media, change perception of the justice system, promote better job performance, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.…
L (2013), Why abused women stay in bad relationships; Retrieved August 16, 2014, from http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/10/opinion/steiner-domestic-violence This source documents research on females whom stayed in an abusive relationship fearing of retaliation or in a hope of changing the abusing partner. The research shows the complications to the situations, particularly how a woman who’s being abused still tries to maintain a positive image to the world about their relationship. Some of the women who attempted leaving the relationship ended up with no societal support, or worse yet, died. This article gains credibility from its’ author Leslie Steiner.…
