Summary Of Body Ritual Among The Nacirema

For the first part of this final research paper, I will examine politics in America from an etic perspective by taking a step back and make an attempt to be an outsider looking in on the way politics tend to work. When writing about a culture in an etic perspective, one must ensure that they are livening an outsider’s objective view of that culture and do not let their own biases take over. (Crapo, 2013 1.1). Miner gives a very good example of how to write from an etic perspective in his article, “Body Ritual among the Nasiriya". Throughout the article he continues to give an outsiders perspective on the shrines and rituals performed by the Nacirema culture. First of all the United States government has been divided into three separate branches. These include the executive branch, legislative branch, and the judicial branch. Each one of these branches was created with the intent of removing the risk of the rise of a dictatorship within the United States. Each of these three branches have there own distinctive head. The executive branch is made up of The President of the United States, or POTUS. The judicial branch on the other hand is made up with the Supreme Court. Last but not least the legislative branch, which we will talk about more in detail later, consists of the United States congress, which is divided into the Senate and the House of Representatives.
