Early paintings of naked women and the study of those paintings, early writings like poetry by men written about women, then the film industry and the way a woman is portrayed on multiple platforms. These mediums aid the world in being able to see the woman and how she is worshiped today. Kuhn states in her article that, “Meanings do not reside in images, then: they are circulated between representation, spectator and social formation.” (Kuhn 43) This means that an image has different meanings to different spectators and the meanings are constantly being rotated around but there is an acceptable meaning that is socially known. Thinking back to the white picket fence houses and the “American Dream,” one can begin to realize how damaging that was for all women in this society. Form the beginning we have lived in a male dominant culture, back in the old days, the man would go to work, and the woman would stay home and cook and clean and be a glorified house wife. We as women would act as a trophy or prize that a man would come home to and “love” for ever. But the issue with that model is that women are more than just a prize in this society. We are smart and inelegant and we are fighting for our right to be treated as an equal to the male
