Auditory hallucinations are when voices can be heard inside a person’s head and may be threatening or abusive. These hallucinations are very common and are experienced by almost 70% of schizophrenics. Another clinical characteristic of schizophrenia is anhedonia, an “inability to experience pleasure” (Dawd et al., 2009). This is a negative symptom where the schizophrenic may no longer enjoy or look forward to participating in activities that they used to do such as sports.
