Successful Team Communication

The purpose of a team it to work together in a cohesive atmosphere. To be a successful team, communication plays a fundamental role. Successful teams have to be willing to communicate. Teams are composed for the purpose of working together to complete a task. It all starts with knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. One person has to take charge of the team to insure that things are getting done and to assign tasks for everyone. I have spent a lot of time working in teams. Communication is key to the success in a team. To get to the level of communication we had to trust each other to complete our own tasks when the rest of the team was not around. Among alpha males it is important for one person to take charge of the team. Too many chiefs leads to an unsuccessful team. Everyone in the team had to fulfill their roles and responsibilities to meet our goal. The purpose of a team is to produce better results than what one person can do on her or her own. “Team is a group of individuals who depend on each other to accomplish a common objective” (Newman, 2015, p38). Teams come in different form whether it is for a school project, business team, or a team getting ready to deploy. …show more content…
This lead to everyone having their own task to accomplish to meet the goal of the team. For example, my first team consisted of 12 Marines and everyone had their own task to accomplish. I had my second in command that would insure that everyone’s gear was ready and that everyone had what they needed to accomplish our current mission. Someone else would be in charge of plaining out the route we were going to take and to insure our headquarters element had a copy. Another Marines job was to draw the food and water needed for a one day mission.
