It was an uphill battle, but she stayed strong for me and worked hard. Amongst all this she had to decide where I'd be attending kindergarten. She prayed and asked God to direct her and He did. My mom on the other hand saw the importance of schooling which lead me to my third school in by the fifth grade, I attended a smaller catholic school with children from middle class families. Although my mom placed me into a good school, I don’t think she realized that I didn’t really know how to learn, although she read to me and my brother when we were younger and often questioned us allowing us to think beyond our years learning in school was not something that I was very good at. After my mom was unable to finish her treatment she fell into a depression of sorts and her days still consisted of a lot of sleeping and disconnect. Around this time, I had entered in to the sixth grade where the school had low funding and even lower expectations for all of the kids who attended. At this point my mom had been out of work for a couple of years and there was no other income into the house, other than the maybe child support that we might receive from my birthfather.…

I watched about half of the film and it saddened me on how the brothers were treated. Then when the police accused them of having homosexual relations I was shock, I had to rewind just to make sure I heard right. They were a poor family, that live closely together, they were a family who loved each other and wanted to stay together. Just because they were closed, it didn’t mean there were inappropriate things going on in the house. They were uneducated and were taken advantage of by the cops for not knowing exactly what they were signing.…

TITLE: Portrayal of coloured people in foreign sitcoms INTRODUCTION I have chosen this topic because, being an Indian, I, myself have noticed Indians being portrayed not realistically but stereotypically in foreign sitcoms. I thought both my parents were perfect growing up because of the life that I could lead because of them, but they never truly loved me. I liked to believe that I was always good and kindhearted as well, but I'm not sure anymore. I can remember the day that changed my life forever.…

It was a damaging environment because of the constant interaction with my mother who was extremely critical and often lost her temper. The feeling that I could never please her overwhelmed me and even when I went to public school her manipulation of myself and others climaxed.…
