Student Athletes Should Be Paid

In the midst of college and sports there is a certain criteria that a few distinct individuals meet or represent and have a huge impact on. Those individuals are the various student athletes scattered among the basketball and football programs of superior institutions. Various players that have the opportunity to pursue a higher education initially have their athletic ability to thank. The controversy between student athletes and whether or not they should receive pay from the institutions they attend has generated multiple positions. The discussion generates ideas and beliefs that support the reason for student athletes (in well recognized programs) receiving compensation as well as beliefs that support the reasoning against paying student athletes for their “volunteer” services. The exigence of the topic at hand is deciding whether or not student athletes of recognized programs, such as basketball or football should receive pay or some sort of compensation for their services.
