Children of all ages grow up dreaming about becoming their favorite professional player whether it be basketball, Football, or Soccer. The dream in their eyes are enough to get them started on achieving something great. However, they have to make grades to move up in the ranks of sports. Growing up playing football, we had to make above a seventy-five grade average in all of our classes. If not we would have to bear crawl, getting on all fours and “crawling” a set amount of yards. Being a leader is not about doing what is right when people are looking, it is about when the coaches and other adults are not looking. Whether you are on or off the field people are watching even if you do not know it. Student athlete leaders can have a big impact on the success and reputation of the athletic department. They set the tone for the work ethic, attitude, confidence, and chemistry of the teams, in which determines the school's success on the field. Teams cannot work as a whole if the team is not all on the same page, you are only as strong as your weakest link. Team leadership involves a picture of the future and where they are going. The vision provides a strong sense of purpose. Team leadership is about working with all the participants whether you are friends are not. “Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” -Vince
