With the growing use of technology, we see a lot more slang used because we live in a time of texting and instant messaging. a message that includes a lot of specialist jargon and abbreviations will not be understood by a receiver who is not familiar with the terminology used. Regional colloquialisms and expressions may be misinterpreted or even considered offensive (Skills You Need, 2011). Jargon or slang can also be an issue when it comes to the large amount of communication that is done between different cultures as well. When we think about what it takes to be a good communicator it can be defined by many things, including; being able to inspire and gain peoples respect and trust. Your behavior is your single greatest mode of communication, and it must be congruent with what you say. If your actions don’t align with your words, there’s trouble.
