Going to college, is one of the most stressful phases of someone’s life, whether you’re a first or fourth year college student. And one of the largest contributors to the stress effectively managing time. Over the course of the past three months, I have been continuously stressed about allotting the correct amount of time to the numerous activities in which I participate. The proper management of time is stressful due to the fact that proper time management can lead to stellar academic performance or the complete opposite of stellar performance. These situations still occur on an almost daily basis, for example, the night before completely finishing this essay, I stayed up past one o’clock to finish math homework as well as a few other assignments. In the mornings, when I wake up, I am usually unwilling to get ready for another day of class, but I am also highly irritated with the simplest of tasks. The lack of sleep has often stressed me out to the point, where I am ready to quit. The leading cause of these nights, is the severe shortage of time, I face on a daily basis. As well as my unsuccessful efforts to manage my time effectively throughout the day, the week and the month. Along with my awkward sleep schedule I often find it hard to have a social life, which is also due this time constraint. Furthermore, trying to juggle things around and create a schedule in which I am allowed to manage my time effectively, I have been forced to devote a significantly lower amount of time towards having a social life. During this summer, I was able to spend time with my family to the extent where it was practically the whole day. But ever since the start of the this semester, the amount of time I have to spend with family and friends has gradually decreased. An example is when my high school friends, were going to have a party for a friend who was going to UC San Diego. I was asked if I was able to go, but I unfortunately was unable to. Another time, of when I was stressed about my grades along with managing my time, while spending time with others, was during one of my cousin’s birthday party. During this event, I was forced to leave early in order to

Even when an ample amount of time is exerted overall, extreme care must be taken to ensure all subjects are getting the attention they deserve. A haphazard method of determining what is “most important”, and how much time should be allotted for each subject, has proven to be for the most part successful, yet leaves a large and inevitable margin for error, and so inevitably creates additional stress. Errors come easily when sleep deprivation, and exhaustion play a part. The question at hand is, how will time management and planning throughout the week help structure study time for more efficient…

As any student knows, grades are reflective of their accomplishments in a given class. However, grades mean much more to students than whether they know the material or not. Grades mean whether or not someone will get into their college of choice, whether or not they have to retake that class they had failed as a result of an emotional semester, whether or not they are hired for a position against someone who graduated with a higher grade-point average (GPA). Students are under more duress than ever to be academically excellent because of the mounting pressure in the American education system. Another study of similar motives was taken on the most significant activities the impacted the students’ performance in any given course. The results of that study showed the idea that the most important learning takes place in the classroom and that students who do a conscientious job on a daily basis preparing for and participating in class perform better than students who skip class and try to cram for exams.(Schiming)…
