I learned to be organized at very younger age in my personal life, school and work. When I was younger, my dad would throw my shoes way if I did not put them where they belong. Being well organized has helps me out at work. I recently switched roles at work and took on a project that has been in disarray for the last five years. I started by organizing what needs to be done and give myself timeframes. I created new spreadsheets that were easy to read and reformatted documents that educational partners could just insert their information without worrying about lines shifting in the document. I also created a continuity book, it’s contains documents that detail exact process of how to run reports, where to find information and how to insert participants. The book holds a wealth of information that can be passed down to co-workers and creates a more efficient process. A weakness of mine is public speaking. I have wide-ranging of experience in public speaking, but I have not been able to get over the fear of standing in front of an audience and speaking. Days before giving a speech I feel nervous and sick to my stomach. When I get in front of everyone my hands get sweaty, my voice cracks and I forget what I was going to say. One of the most memorable places I volunteered at was Mission Solano. There I had the opportunity to help provide homeless people with hot meals and listen to individual stories of working to overcome homelessness. Another volunteering experience I had was assisting at a Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility (CASF) in Germany. I volunteered to help move wound warriors from aeromedical aircrafts on to waiting buses for transportation to the CASF. Hearing people’s stories of war and seeing the wounds they have sustained makes me think their lives are going to be changed forever.
