This week’s class was very thought provoking as we explored reasons behind identifying ourselves with a song. We also learned the effect of Stockholm Syndrome, and I thought that it was interesting to relate this event to the saying of “which came first the chicken or the egg”. Many believe that choosing “your song” has to do with whether or not the song does something for the person, or if the lyrics and melodies are congruent with one’s personality. However, it was interesting to view the act of choosing a song through the lens of manipulation.
