Countless people would agree with the fact that it is unfair to single out an entire community based on their religion, ethnicity, or race. They would be astonished by the number of people unaware of the current issue of racial profiling. Racial profiling has always been an issue in America, but has become a bigger issue since 9/11 occurred. According to Google, racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. There have been many accounts of police stopping people of color strictly because that color was anything other than white. For example, in the article More Training and Police Consolidation Would Improve Racial Profiling Stats, it states that “In 2014, blacks were 75 percent more likely to be pulled over in the state of Missouri than whites. Blacks and Hispanics were more likely to be searched as a result of such stops, even though whites were more likely to be in possession of illegal contraband, such as drugs or weapons.” This illustrates where racial profiling can be categorized as a type of racism.
