Stereotypes Of Marketing Students

Improved Essays
The stereotypes of marketing students are often ‘they might hate dealing with numbers’ because Marketing focuses on formulating long-winded strategies and tactics instead of analysing figures. Marketing is all about spending huge budgets on establishing abstract concepts such as brand image and customer loyalty, while the nature of Finance is investing in financial assets, which can be explained by figures. It is for such reason that people regard Marketing and Finance as two unrelated, distinctive disciplines.
However, I have an entirely different point of view regarding Marketing and Finance after having studied Financial Management in my last year of Associate Degree. The most impressive theory I learned from the Financial Management module

In August 2015, I invested in Apple Inc. on Investopedia’s Stock
Simulator because based on previous years’ experience, the stock price of Apple Inc rises every September when the company releases new products. Unexpectedly, the stock price dropped and I suffered a loss later discovered that the fall in Apple share price could be explained by marketing concepts like environmental analysis (Macro- and micro-environments). It can also be attributed to the over expectation of the public on new iPhone model, underwhelming product features, reduction in new iPhone model production, etc. Marketing theories can identify changes in markets and corporations, compensate the limitation of CAPM and thus help people make better investment decisions. My marketing background and sensitivity to market changes enable me to evaluate the opportunities and threats of companies, thereby giving me a clear picture of the risk or potential for different firms. Not only are Marketing and
Finance correlated, they also compensate each other.
My simulated stock trading experiences cultivate my interest in Finance. Besides, since I am an international student and leisure traveller, I always keep an eye on

Some of the affected firms are Ford, Jaguar, and
Nissan all of which own major manufacturing plants in U.K. that export products to the EU.
To summarise, I believe Finance is a course that suits my interests and polishes my business knowledge. The financial skills that can be taught by master course, together with the marketing concepts gained in my bachelor degree, will enable me to be an intermediary between Finance and Marketing department in my future career plan.
The master course can help me prepare for earning the Chartered Financial Analyst credential with not only a single finance perspective, but an all-rounded perspective that takes corporate social responsibility and ethics into account. More importantly, a master course in Finance covers a topic that intrigues me a lot – CAPM. With such knowledge, I can excel in asset pricing and perform better in both my simulated stock trading and real world stock trading. Together with my interpersonal, and communication skills, I am capable of eliminating conflicts between departments budgeting. Overall, I am a confident, skilled and well-qualified student who possesses the capacity to excel in a master programme in Finance in the coming

The first three chapters were basically an introduction to the world of economics, which was really useful in giving me a glance at what I will possibly be learning in my upcoming AP Economics course.…

After I came here, I noticed that a large amount of girls I saw on the downtown streets and campus own a thin and healthy figure. I realized that this stereotype mislead me, since just a few people are overweight.…

Advertising has a significant impact on society, by shaping gender roles, appearance standards, stereotypes, and sexual norms for both women and men, ultimately helping to mold the culture of the time. Research is necessary to be successful in the stock market. By supporting its position, this paper will provide a survey of scholarship on the subject. In 2006, The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham with commentary by Jason Zweig discussed Peter Lynch’s rule: “No one should ever invest in a company, no matter how great its products or how crowded its parking lot, without studying its financial statements and business value” (Zweig 126). This rule contradicted the belief that one can pick stocks without doing any homework.…
