The first person that came to mind was my stepfather’s friends whose wife is a social worker. I initially wanted to interview her, but my mother made me reconsider and said that it would be best if I found a social worker on my own. I decided to listen to my mother and find a social worker to interview and remembered that my pastor’s son had recently graduated with a masters in social work. I decided to give him a call and ask if he knew a social worker that was willing to do an interview and has had experience in the field. I was able to get three names, but none were able to meet up with me because of their busy schedules or important matters would come up that they had to cancel. I honestly felt uncomfortable asking strangers for help and then even more uncomfortable because they would cancel on me. I would really hate to be put in a similar situation again because I just was not comfortable asking a stranger for help. I can honestly imagine a person asking for help or spilling everything about their life to a complete stranger. I would honestly feel troublesome asking for help and would hate to be put in that position, but find it completely necessary if I in need of help from a social worker. I soon after decided to quit my search for a social worker and simply asked my stepdad for his friend’s wife number and I gave her a call. I honestly felt a little nervous when I spoke to her, but it went away as soon as I realized that she is an easy going person, who is passionate about her work. I asked if it was possible for me to interview her and she presented me with the option of either interviewing her or her sister, both are social workers but each with a different focus on an area.
