Stereotypes Definition Essay

I will begin by giving complete sentences to define the terms: race, ethnicity, minority, and stereotype. Next, I will give an example of how I have been stereotyped, because of my ethnicity, gender, or age by someone else or an organization at any time in my life. Then, I will give an example of when I ever stereotyped someone else, because of their ethnicity, gender, and age. Lastly, I will explain why the examples occurred and the consequences of the actions. If the action was a misunderstanding, if there were consequences, or a positive outcome and why. In conclusion, I will restate my introduction and give a brief sentence of what I could do better for future assignments. Race is classification system used to categorize humans into large and distinct populations or groups by anatomical, cultural, ethnic, genetic, geographical, historical, religious, or social affiliation. Ethnicity means the state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition. Minority is a culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct group that coexists with but is subordinate to a more dominant group. Lastly, Stereotype is an image or idea of a person or group. The consequence of that stereotype made me want to become Cardiothoracic Surgeon even more. To prove that person wrong. I stereotyped the old man because I thought only younger people should be in that field because of the hours put into a surgery. The consequences of my action for stereotyping the old man is if he real wants to be a surgeon then he might even want it more, just like me when I was stereotyped. In both the examples there wasn’t anything negative or serious consequences, only positive outcomes. Because when they stereotyped me it motivated me to do what I want and prove them wrong.
