Many authors have their own unique writing styles for fiction books. There are many literary novels readers think are a good book such as Harry Potter, but that is not the case. There are good novels most people do not read such as Typee by Herman Melville because it has all of the writing techniques Stephen King mentions. Stephen King and John Grisham have their own way of writing, but they both have different and similar writing styles like descriptive and theme. Firstly, descriptive writing is a great tool for writing. Description explains the appearance of someone or something. According to Stephen King, “Overdescription buries him or her in details and images.” Writing an overdescription novel can take from the reader’s imagination. While using less description, the reader can have their own images while reading (King). On the other hand, John Grisham’s book, The Confession, is completely opposite. John Grisham wrote,

Grisham’s theme in his novel is about an innocent victim who got the death penalty while on death row, which has to do with the corrupt justice system. John Grisham wrote, “Death row is a nightmare to serial killers and ax murderers. For an innocent man, it's a life of mental torture that the human spirit is not equipped to survive.” Grisham clearly has an interest with the prison and justice system and he does not change his theme or interest throughout the
