Stem cell research should not be prohibited “Without stem cells, wounds would never heal, your skin and blood could not continually renew themselves, fertilized eggs would not grow into babies, and babies would not grow into adults.” (What are stem cells? Par.1) Stem cells were founded in 1998. They have two important characteristics. First, they can become any kind of cells in a multicellular organism. Second, they can renew themselves almost indefinitely. However, researches on stem cells are dubious because it involves using cells from human embryos. People who are against stem cells researches seem to forget their wonderful utility. Stem cells can be used in medicine to cure many …show more content…
Firstly, they claim that using embryotic stem cells is a murder. The main method used in stem cells research involves taking tissues from an aborted embryo. They say that an embryo is already a human being and embryos have the same rights as a grow-up human. They also afraid that women will over use abortion to sell their embryos. Secondly, they feel unconformable about Chimeras used in research. “A Chimera is an organism that has both human and animal cells and tissues.” (What are stem cells? Par.18). Researchers use chimeras to study effects of stem cells that are implanted in a host. They are also afraid that researches on stem cell will lead to cloning. These people said that humans are not God so they must not create new …show more content…
Above all, if researchers found how stem cells work they will be able to cure brains and hearth diseases. They even will be able to cure spinal cord injuries. They also will be able to create new organs and tissues that could be implanted. In addition, stem cells can be used in drug testing. On the website nature.com, they said that many scientists think that testing pollutants and potential drugs on cells grown from human embryonic stem cells could be more accurate than current tests. This could mean that fewer animals would be killed for research and also make research faster and cheaper (How can stem cells advance medicine? Par.6). Also, stem cells researches can help understand the development of a human body. By understanding how a human body is created scientist will be able to found new treatments for illness due to abnormal cell division like
