I would have to say I am in between the two sides. The conservative’s reasons seemed morally right to me and I do not support the killing of embryos since they should be considered a human life. But I do agree with the liberals that more funding should go into research, but more too adult stem cells than embryo stem cells because adult stem cells seem to get better results. I actually did not know there were different types of stem cell before this report, so the idea that some conservatives support stem cell research caught me by surprise. I always thought conservatives rejected all types of stem cell research, but I guess I was wrong. I thought it was interesting that adult stem cells are being used to treat certain health problems and embryonic stem cells have yet to treat a disease but people still support embryonic stem cells. My mom actually had a stem cell treatment not too long ago. About this time last year my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is the type of person that always prefers natural/organic methods. So when doctors told her she should consider “western medicine” for example, chemotherapy and other medications she decided not to go through with that method. Her sister who is an alternative doctor in the Philippines recommended she should try the adult stem cell treatment. So she went to the Philippines for the treatment and stayed there for several months. When she came back, she was good as could be and she seemed a lot more active than before. She told us she felt more energized. She got another CT scan when she got back and the results said the cancer shrunk and now she is just taking a minimal dose of medication to maintain the current size and possibly reduce the cancer. After seeing how stem cells helped my mom, I believe with more research and public funding, doctors and scientist will be able to find many more cures for health
