About a year after her father's death, Stefania at the age of 14 worked at a local grocery store owned by the Diamante´s. ¨They treated me like family and I moved in with them when the Germans invaded Poland in one September 14, 1939.¨ Yet the journey to her becoming a hero had only began. Therefore, she was perfectly fine and able to take care of the apartment and the personal possin it. Every single day she would get food from local farms and take the food to the ghetto and give them to the Diamantes. She did this until they moved the Jews to concentration camps. Then, sometimes she would got to meet the Diamante's and she would take some to the apartment and hide them.
Hiding Jews was illegal. Therefore, if you were caught you were killed. In the end Stefania was able save 13 Jews. She let them stay in her attic for 2 years. They would only come down some time for food and to stretch their legs. Every single day Stefania would go to work at a factory like her mother. That way she could pay for food.
In 1961, Stefania moved to the United States of America. She married Josef Diamante (one of the Jews she saved). The good thing was that all the Jews Stefania had saved all lived. Stefania did not receive a hero award. We should still all know anyway that she was a hero and that she risked her life to save
