Steers was founded by George Halamandres, who introduced the first steakhouse concept in South Africa after spending some time in the United States. The name “Steers” has evolved over the past few years from different names such as “Golden Spur”, “Seven Steer”, “Branded Steer” and “Longhorn Steer”.
The first Steers was opened in the 1970’s by John Halamandres who is George’s son in Jeppe, Johannesburg. John the later joined forces with his four cousins namely, Panagiotis, Theofanis, Periklis and Charalambous.
