Following the completion of my Master’s in Organizational Leadership, and through my experiential learning, and leadership training, I came to realize the value leadership plays in our everyday life; in school, as a parent, as managers of people. Leadership done right can guide all of us to improve our situation or a condition by employing leadership concepts. As a result, I have short-, mid-, and long-term goals.
My short-term goal is to begin teaching at the undergraduate level. A goal already realized as my mentor, Dr. Eric Schockman, has graciously asked me to teach at Woodbury. Just in the past 12-months, I have mentored over 3-people with landing their job. They include a US Navy Seal, a police lieutenant, and a police sergeant. I have also begun conversations with two police chiefs who are planning their next career in the private sector.
My long-term professional goal is to serve the City of Los Angeles. Following completion of the program, I want to run for Los Angeles City Council representing the 12th District, where I live. I believe my leadership training and education, and specifically conflict resolution and team building experience can contribute to making this city a great place to work and live.
I hope this brief essay provides some insight into my desire to be accepted into the program. I am passionate about leadership, and the role it can play in our world. I hope I am accepted into the next cohort, and begin the next phase of my leadership education. Which over the long term I will use to contribute back to
